     American Majority, a non-profit, non-partisan organization it is dedicated to developing a new generation of American elected and opinion leadership that will reject the self-destructive policies associated with government expansion.  They have wonderful candidate and activist training seminars.  The next one in Michigan is a Campaign Manager training seminar in Troy, MI on Saturday, April 14th, 2012.  If you are interested in running for any elected office, or which to help someone running for office, I encourage you to attend.

Student Statesmanship Institute is preparing teenagers to live out and defend their faith in high school, college and in the marketplace of ideas! The Institute has three 5 day sessions, where there are different tracks for students to take: Legislative, Business, Media, Campaign, and Judicial. Students learn to role play in these fields, with public speaking and competitions. I have not attended SSI, but have attended the American Legion’s Boys State, and Albion College‘s Operation Bentley. Both of them were fine leadership training programs for gifted students, and it sounds like SSI is of the same caliber, but with Christian biblical teachings. I do not know the Institute’s political leanings other than their mission statement and their sponsoring organizations. If you are, or have a Christian High School student, you should look into this.  If anyone has had experience with SSI, please contact me as I would like to hear people’s experiences with them.

     Free event on how to get started as a candidate, what is a precinct delegate, what county and township offices have an election this year, Campaign Finance Information, and important dates in your campaign.  A great place to start, if you are considering being a candidate.  Held by Muskegon County Clerk, Nancy Waters, and will have Democratic Party Chair Steve Markel,  Republican Chair Christina Achterhoff, Elections Coordinator Kimberly Grimm, and Muskegon Charter Township Clerk Ann Oakes.

Leadership Institute which teaches conservatives the nuts and bolts of how to succeed in the public policy process is having a Youth Leadership School in East Lansing, MI on April 14th and 15th.  The Youth Leadership School has launched more successful political careers than any other Leadership Institute training program.  In the School, you will learn how to build an effective student organization, help in getting out the vote for elections, earn favorable media coverage for your candidate, your cause, or yourself, to develop a public relations strategy, and how to launch a successful career in politics.

Michigan Department of State – Bureau of Elections is holding a series of seminars on campaign finance disclosure.  Every two weeks, they hold two 3 hour seminars.  One is on MERTS (Michigan Electronic Reporting and Tracking System) and the other specializes in either candidates, PAC’s, Political Parties, or Ballot Questions.  MERTS is only for reports to the state.  It is good to attend even if you are just running for a local office.

Leadership Institute which teaches conservatives the nuts and bolts of how to succeed in the public policy process is having a Grassroots Activist School in Kalamazoo, MI on April 14th.  It will teach you how to get involved and make a difference in your local elections and governance. This training will give you the nuts and bolts tools needed to hold your elected leaders accountable. Attend this class and learn what it takes to make your voice heard.  Charles Ryan Adams taught their Campaign Management School in Novi, MI that I attended, and it was well worth the 3 hour drive to Novi.  If you want to make a difference in this years elections, you need to attend.
